Capricorn the Goat meets Gemini the Mercury Bird and hopefully, the above contrasts help illustrate the difficulties facing these two in any kind of relationship, but PARTICULARLY in a love relationship. That's really the first thing any Capricorn will notice about a Gemini person, is that as convincing as they may be about almost anything, they don't ever seem particularly convinced themselves about anything. Gemini people are hot one day and cold later that same day. What Cappy may or may not see is that Gemini is both hot AND cold ALL of the time, it's just a matter of which one surfaces. This is confusing for a Capricorn who is VERY realistic in their perspective, very reasonable and (must I say it again? Yes, I must) PRACTICAL. Geminis are only practical as it suits them, and rarely convinced that ANYTHING is as it appears. They belong to the realm of imagination, of what could be, not necessarily what is. It isn't that they can't face the facts, it's that they keep a handy set of their own in their back pockets which they brought back from the Never Never Land that is their ONLY permanent home.
But, see THAT'S just what a Gem might find attractive about Cappies; they are very stable. Like a familiar branch to land on between flights, the Mercury Birds probably would find that influence to be a calming effect in their rapid, flashes-by-before-you-know-it lives. Cappy on the other hand, would probably be VERY impressed by the amazing mental gymnastics of which Geminis are capable. They can take the most complex mental pretzels and almost effortlessly untwist them. What's not PRACTICAL about admiring an ability like that?
There are other problems lying in their path, however. Take the tragedy of the Gemini "will-O-wisp wants" syndrome. Geminis frequently fall in love with the unknown, because of what it COULD be, because of their innate curiousity to know what lies just beyond the next hill. They are also quite often disappointed with what they find, mainly because it rarely meets the expectations of what it could have been. Unfortunately, in LOVE that usually translates to fickleness, and for people as naturally equipped to talk and charm their way into anything that they want, that usually means a trail of broken hearts left behind them. Not necessarily a rough edge that life couldn't sand to a passable smoothness, just a potential pitfall.
For Capricorn, a mistake in love is an unthinkable tragedy usually. These people have a VERY deep love nature. When they give their love, they give it for real and hopefully(thinks Cappy), for keeps..not like most of us who talk for keeps, but don't mean it as sincerely as we want to think we do. Cappy has thought about it before committing him or herself to it. They are extremely cautious and conservative in demonstrating love for this reason. Cappy won't make a mistake if he or she can help it, and they usually can. Capricorn folks are very self disciplined, they also won't be trifled with. A Capricorn who has truly given his or her heart to a Gem that soon after takes flight (having reached the greener pasture, but finding it browner than they thought it would be), will be changed forever in the area of love and in a very profound way. This could make it VERY hard for the next person who comes along to convince Cappy of the sincerity of their love. A shame too, the Gem didn't MEAN to hurt them in this way, Gem just has a hard time looking past Gem most of the time. It's not bad, it's not good, it's just Gemini being Gemini.
Cappy can be domineering when in love. Cappy doesn't like to share the object of his or her affections with ANYONE, not friends, not anyone...except maybe family.
Gemini can fly away if domineered. Air doesn't like to be trapped. Freedom is probably the one thing of greatest importance to all three of the Air signs (Gemini Libra and Aquarius.) A day inside without anything to do or stimulate the brain is torture to all three, above and beyond what it is to other types of folks. (Aquarius usually has the easiest time of the three, then Gemini, then Libra(unless Libra's in a comfy cozy relationship). They all usually find being penned up intolerable for any length of time.)
My advice, if I were to give any, would start out with this reminder:
Astrology doesn't tell us what will or will not work out in love. In fact, that is one area where I most admire Linda Goodman as an observer and an astrologer. Many books and astrologers will say, these two types of people have no chance, or these two do. Not her, she looks deeply into these people and sees that EVERY relationship has hope and possibility(typical Aries), it's just that some take more work than others, more willingness to compromise. She even looks at the possibility that highly compatible types will have problems that other astrologers overlook. She seems intuitively to see into their motivations and then act them out as if there were a relationship, even though it only exists in her mind. She also reminds us of the rewards of overcoming our difficulties in a relationship, stating that quite often the most rewarding relationships are those that work out between the least compatible types of people.
She is correct in stating that it is in these difficult relationships that we are given the GREATEST opportunities to improve ourselves as human beings and the greatest rewards in love. I should know, Libra-Cancer is called the most difficult of all relationships(most books just call them highly unlikely or improbable, warning people of these types against getting involved with each other). Well, that is the type of relationship that I have been involved in for the last 13 years and you know what? It WAS HARD AS H**L in the beginning(I use the H word with reservations but with good reason...cuz it WAS hard as h**l!) WE fought ALL of the time. ALL of the time, constantly. It never stopped, we p****d each other off incessantly, but slowly, surely, we grew as people. (My discovering astrology two or so years ago helped our understanding a GREAT deal. Thank you Professor Seward!)
Along with the growth that we saw in ourselves and in each other, grew a love that is deeper and more rewarding than any that I have ever felt before in my life. I'd like to think that the missus agrees. Now instead of CONSTANTLY fighting, we do so about once a week, a big bru-ha-ha once every 6 months or so, but even more startling, we are ALWAYS being stopped on the street by older couples who comment on how they haven't seen a couple as in love as we are in years. Seriously, it happens a LOT, and THAT is worth every moment of agony that we went through and occasionally still go through. I see myself with this woman until my dying day, and hopefully, she feels the same, I think she does...her eyes say so anyhow, and the way she rubs my tushy in the morning does too. (Yea, she tells me to shut up and winces when I speak...sigh, but she loves me.)
So my advice is this:
Gem, stop..slow down, as unnatural as that may be. Smell this rose before you pull it up from the ground. Decide for yourself whether it will smell as sweet once you've plucked it for wanting to possess it. How long will that sweet scent last once it's in your hands? Better to smell it where it lies until you are SURE that your heart can enjoy that scent for a lifetime. If you can't, leave it there, for some other to appreciate, someone whose heart's desire IS a lifetime of that rose's perfume. Fair enough?
Cappy, if your love is Gemini's trophy and Gemini's love is YOUR trophy, then understand, the Bird might fly away leaving you empty handed if you don't wait until you have YOUR trophy well in hand before handing over Gemini his/her victory. Not that Gemini won't sing just the SWEETEST song you ever heard. Try not to get hypnotized no matter how long he/she might sing it, it's just a song (followed by a stunning piece of footwork, no doubt.) It's about what the bird IS, not what the bird seems to be. Don't hold it in your hand too tightly, you will make your Birdy want to fly away. Don't scatter the tasty seeds you have for it either, open your hand and wait for Gemini to land there..then gently stroke your Mercury Bird so that it will want to stay. This Bird will not sit in your hand for long in either event and so if you would keep a Gemini, you might have to fly with them. That means occasionally abandoning the practical and just indulging in a little nonsensical flight of fancy once in awhile. Think of Gemini as a movie director and you can be his/her famous star, but you MUST be on cue. Gem has no time to wait, (and here's another thing to think about)the budget for the film is usually low. Gem can make money, to be sure, but Gem can also spend it like it was rice at a wedding. Gemini is a child at heart and as such, could use your wisdom as much as you could use the Mercury Bird's flights of fancy and magical way of seeing the world through a child's eyes. What's not practical about that? Love, fame, travel and human achievement. All possible, if you TRY to understand the nature of the Bird.
Well good luck in any event, you two. : )
